Motorcycle Touring

Hi all, interrupting my current blog series is some good news and it is that I have passed my Motorcycle test and now have a full motorbike license.

Mission accomplished! Celebrating a successful motorcycle test beside the Yamaha, with the pass certificate safely in hand.

I would like to give a big shout out to Lambs Motorcycle training, who has had me since I started my journey last year doing my CBT with them, then some lessons, dropping a bike and getting a souvenir from the end of the brake lever that snapped off and finally completing my DAS course, getting and getting my full motorbike license.

The broken tip of the brake lever after an unfortunate drop — thankfully designed to snap here so the rest of the lever remains usable.

So What Comes Next?

Now it is a time of waiting for my licence to come back so I can get my IDP (International Driving Permit), which I need for Japan so I can drive while I am out there.

On another note, it does mean that two trips I want to make, both next year and the year after, finally have the green light!

The first one is going touring around Scotland and the Isles of Skye, Barra and Uist for 2 weeks. This involves doing the NC500 as well and going to more parts of Scotland that I couldn’t do last time. Hopefully, I will also be able to a smaller 1 week tour around Wales before this, but both will be my first longish tours on a motorbike.

The next one is a 1 month trip touring round Europe, visiting France, Belgium, Netherlands, Germany, Czech Republic, Austria, Slovenia, Italy, Switzerland, Lichtenstein and Luxemburg. That is a whopping 11 countries I would be visiting, and it also includes some good scenery and mountain passes, quite a few of them, including the famous Stelvio Pass in Italy. Please find below a breakdown of the cost for how much it cost me to get my Motorcycle license if you are interested, otherwise until next time!
